Moorehead was to have been cast as Countess de Brancourt in this film. She wanted to play the role of Mr. Parkington's former mistress Aspasia Conti and had to fight to get it. Ultimately she was cast in the glamourous role of Aspasia and it was always her favorite role.
Agnes Moorehead did the original radio play in 1943 but was overlooked for the film version.
