Producers and director John McTiernan were 100% sold on Thewlis for the part of Simon Gruber. Bruce Willis did not agree and the part went to Jeremy Ironsl.
Thewlis auditioned for the part of Professor Quirrell in the first film, but instead got cast as Remus Lupin in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
