According to Jon Krampner's "Female Brando: The Legend of Kim Stanley," Stanley turned down the role eventually taken by Kate Reid, a coincidence since Reid had replaced Stanley in "A Delicate Balance."

Kim had originated the role of chanteuse Cherie on Broadway in 1954, but was overlooked for the film. Ironically Stanley would play a character based on Monroe in the 1958 film the Goddess.
